HanaEnglish for Zoom

HanaEnglish is a 1:1 online English tutoring service. A teacher connects their own Zoom account once; whenever a lesson (including a free trial lesson) is booked, HanaEnglish creates a scheduled Zoom meeting on that teacher's account and lets both the teacher and the student join from inside the HanaEnglish app at lesson time.

Adding the app (teachers)

  1. Sign in to HanaEnglish with your teacher account.
  2. Open Settings → Meeting platforms (teacher menu → Settings).
  3. Press Connect Zoom. You are taken to Zoom to sign in and review the requested permissions.
  4. Press Allow. You return to HanaEnglish and the Zoom card shows Connected.

Free (Basic) Zoom accounts work. Basic accounts do not expose the participant report API, so attendance is recorded from the teacher's lesson report.

Using the app

  • When a student requests a trial lesson, a teacher presses Take this slot on the Trial requests screen. The Zoom meeting is created automatically at that moment.
  • Regular lessons booked by the school are prepared the same way: the meeting is created on the teacher's Zoom account ahead of the lesson.
  • From 15 minutes before the lesson, the teacher presses Join on the home or Classes screen and the student presses Join on their Schedule; both open the same Zoom meeting.
  • HanaEnglish never posts on your behalf and never reads recordings or chat.
